The beaches in <strong>Khao Lak<\/strong> are also on the west coast and are dangerous during the rainy season \u2014 swimming there is not advisable. Swimming is usually possible on Phuket's <strong>east coast<\/strong>, for example <strong>Ao Yon Beach or Cape Panwa<\/strong>. In the afternoon head back to your hotel or explore covered attractions \u2014 until the rain eases. The rainy season fades, the Similan Islands reopen from mid-October, but the high season crowds haven't arrived yet.
